Dragon Quest III is the third game in the Dragon Quest series and the last game in the Erdrick/Loto trilogy. It is the first game in the series with a class-change system and the first game in the series where the main character's gender is chosen by the player.

The Game Boy Color remake added a personality system that affects the stat gains by characters upon levelling up, and some dialogue was made dependent on the main character's gender.
